A world class ECA Programme

We believe our ECA programme here at NCBIS is World class, offering a varied, ‘Quality First’ programme, in which students enrich and augment their experiences gained through the mainstream curriculum at the school. We aim to extend our holistic approach to child development and this programme offers the opportunity for students to go on to participate and compete in activities on a local, national and international basis. Highlights from our programme include:

Participating in the Young Musician of the Gulf music competition with a range of our soloists and choirs.

A range of Sports teams taking part in the COBIS Games.

This group interacts and collaborates with a range of other schools both locally and nationally, giving our future leaders the opportunity to explore issues affecting the whole planet.

Model United Nations

The International Duke of Edinburgh Award engages our students in an exciting programme of outdoor education, enabling them to gain valuable accreditation which is recognised by top universities and employers worldwide.

This ECA activity provides a global framework for non-formal education and learning, challenging young people to be aspirational, to celebrate their achievements and to make a positive difference in their world. Students from Year 10-13 participate in the programme; developing transferable skills, increasing their fitness levels, cultivating a sense of adventure and volunteering in their communities. The Award helps young people to find their purpose, passion and place in the wider world.
Starting with the Bronze Award, students go on to complete an expedition involving their camping out overnight, trekking through the desert, and cooking breakfast and dinner in their teams; the International Award enables participants to gain certification which is recognised by universities and the workplace locally, nationally and internationally.

The International Duke of Edinburgh Award

Our ECA programme encourages students to participate in a vast array of high-quality arts, sporting and creative activities according to their preferred interests, designed to promote their engagement in big picture thinking, through regular practice and perseverance.

Throughout 2022-2023, the numbers of ECA activities and students participating in them grew considerably. There are now nearly 80 different weekly activities on offer at NCBIS, resulting in more than 1,500 student hours being booked on a weekly basis. The programme includes activities run by school staff, external providers, as well as a number of accredited short courses taking place offsite.
