His success in the classroom enabled his rapid progression into positions of authority including Subject Lead, Head of House, and Head of Year 10/11. Philip moved to Wellington College International Hangzhou, an all-through international boarding school, in the summer of 2019 with the position of Director of Performance, before being promoted to Deputy Head of Senior School. As a strategic leader, Philip has led several whole school improvements culminating in excellent academic outcomes, improved pastoral care and pupil satisfaction, and staff development and innovation groups. Philip has experience in line managing a variety of faculties across the school including English, maths, humanities, MFL, PE and the creative arts. Philip is a passionate teacher and leader and likes to lead through his actions. Trust, integrity, and collaboration are key to his practice, and he believes that curiosity drives innovation. Philip’s high expectations and record of achieving excellent results stems from his previous experience. Philip began his career as an international trampoline gymnast, training amongst elite squads and competing internationally. During this time Philip obtained a Level 5 HPCC coaching qualification and coached gymnasts to GB representation. His motivation and determination are demonstrated throughout all aspects of his life, from the music that he composes in his free time, to the mountains that he climbs, to the ambitions that he has for his children, friends, and colleagues. Philip shares the NCBIS drive to achieve consistently outstanding student outcomes but also a commitment to producing well-rounded individuals who have a strong moral compass and are prepared for higher education and employment.
